Simon speeds to a 2.24 marathon in AmsterdamOctober 28th 2011 - With little over 80 training kilometers per week, Simon decided to take his chances at the Amsterdam marathon and finished in 2.24.11. He took bronze in the masters national championships. "There was a group of some 20 runners, amongst which the fastest women, who went out on a 2.23 pace. This was a bit of a risk for me: I had put in 5 training runs over 2 hours, but averaged no more than 80 km per week. I was afraid this would not be enough", Simon commented. Simon passd halfway in 1.11.30 but had to let the group go at 27 km. The last 15 km, he ran alone by himself - but kept on running below 3.30 per km. "Luckily, I didn't really die when I came to run alone. The man with the hammer only saw and hit me after 40 km. That's OK". Simon has no intentions to run more marathons in the near future. Pictures
