Simon grabs 14th national steeple chase goldJune 17th 2012 - The Olympic stadium in Amsterdam was the scene of the 2012 national track and field championships this weekend. Simon went out for his 14th steeple chase title, and succeeded gloriously. Simon ran the first laps of the race together with his fellow TAQA Energy collegue Iain Murdoch, who is Scottish but participated in the race as well. It soon became clear that nobody could follow the former European record holder and Vroemen had to run most of teh race on his own. He picked up the gold with a fast last lap in 8.51.67 minutes, 12 seconds ahead of Murdoch and 35 seconds ahead of the silver Dutchman Erik Niemeijer (9.26). Pictures
