Disappointment in Ostrava

June 10th 2004 - After a good first race in Hengelo, Simon's second race of the year (in Ostrava) was rather disappointing. From the first lap onwards, his legs felt without power and the remainder of the race became a struggle. He finished a disappointing 13th place in 8.27.50. Somewhat worrying was also the fact that his hernia pain came somewhat back the day after his race.

"This remains one of my weaker spots, and I have immediately visited doctor Vergouwen to diagnose the pain. He has taken action and I will now need to rest for a few days. I don't want to take any risks towards Athens", Simon said.
